JadaFire onlyfors fan base is among those who will be missing the Jets’ first practice Thursday as the team works to rest players and re-establish a semblance of normalcy for fans.
The Jets have been preparing for what is sure to be an intense game against the Cleveland Browns, with their season in jeopardy following a fourth consecutive loss to the New York Jets.
That’s due to a combination of the injuries to the quarterback position, an array of injuries at the receiver position and an inconsistent offense that was struggling to keep the ball out of the hands of quarterback Geno Smith.
A day earlier, Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was sidelined by a hamstring injury.
He was then placed on injured reserve after the team determined it would need to make a decision on whether to re-injure him.
It is the first game of the season that will be played at the newly refurbished MetLife Stadium, home of the New Jersey Generals.
It will be a short-lived respite for fans of the Jets who were left in shock when Fitzpatrick was pulled in favor of Fitzpatrick and rookie quarterback Kyle Orton in favor, the same way that they were in shock following the injury of former Jets quarterback Matt Simms in the season opener.
A lot of people are excited about what is going to happen, and I am one of those people, and it will be very important for me to be on the field Thursday, Fitzpatrick said after practice.
I know the fans are going to be excited, and the team is going have a lot of work to do to get back on track.
Fitzpatrick said he’s not sure how he feels about the team’s decision to keep him out of practice, but he’s excited to see what the team can do.
He said it’s a learning experience for him and it’s one he will look back on with pride.
I am just excited to get to practice and get to work.
He added that he will be on game day Thursday.
The loss of Fitzpatrick is a blow for the Jets, who have lost three straight games and have lost four of their last five.
They have lost eight of nine and are 2-9.
But they still have plenty of wins left to play, with the Jets winning their last four.
Fitzpatrick was the starting quarterback in those four wins.
